This post is all about the evolution of logo design of Breadcrumbs, which is a travel planning and tracking app. It allows travel enthusiasts to create trips, invite friends and join other publicly available trips. Breadcrumbs is an amazing way to keep track of the places and landmarks you’ve travelled using photos that get pinned on travel maps and thus enriching your travel experience.
Founders of the product came up with name ‘Breadcrumbs’, hinting connecting the dots as read in our childhood story ‘Hansel & Gretel’. Their concept lies around connecting travellers to their community, where they can plan together, track each other and enjoy experiences of each other, all at one.
After the initial sketches and market research of relevant apps, it was realised that Breadcrumbs needs something more than just a logo. It is not just book a car or book a hotel or a review app. Breadcrumbs is unique & more about the travel enthusiasts community, making their travel hassle-free, memorable and safe!
This led us to ideate and develop the mascot ‘Breadcrumb’, who is a travel enthusiast, just like you (the traveller, the story teller, the guide) who is the main reason for developing this app.
The Logo Design
- The mascot ‘Breadcrumb’ is a part of logo wordmark itself and represents the break free nature of travellers.
- Orange color stimulates feelings of energy and reflects excitement, enthusiasm.
- Ubuntu Tilting font having soft edges, appearing welcoming and buddy-buddy was chosen for the logo wordmark.
To show the versatility of logo & character design, mockups showing their application on different products were provided. The following images shows the logo on the physical product (mobile app) and visiting card and other promotional materials developed.
We incorporated “footprints” (symbolic of Breadcrumbs) by the Breadcrumb, in the different visual elements developed for the brand as seen in images above and following promotional posters.
